55W CO2 Laser for Wood, Acrylic and More
The xTool X1 features a 55W CO2 laser for cutting and engraving a wide range of materials.
CO2 laser technology is particularly suitable for wood, MDF, clear and colored acrylic, leather, paper, cardboard and other compatible non-metal materials.
Typical applications include:
Wooden decorations and personalized products
Acrylic displays, lettering and signage
Packaging, architectural models and prototypes
Leather accessories and labels
Components for creative and technical projects
According to xTool, the X1 can cut up to 18 mm basswood and 20 mm acrylic under suitable conditions. Actual cutting performance depends on the material, settings and processing conditions.
The standard surface processing area measures 615 × 320 mm, with a maximum CO2 processing speed of 600 mm/s.
20W Diode Galvo for High-Speed Precision Engraving
The second laser technology included in this bundle is the 20W Diode Galvo Module.
This module uses xTool Hybrid Motion technology, combining machine movement with galvo mirrors to enable detailed engraving at speeds up to 6,000 mm/s.
The diode galvo is especially useful for:
Fine text, logos and illustrations
Detailed engraving on wood and leather
Fast product personalization
Engraving on compatible dark acrylic
Marking certain painted or coated metal surfaces
Repetitive engraving tasks where speed is important
By combining CO2 and diode galvo technology, you can cut a wooden product and then add detailed engraving without moving it to a separate machine.
The 20W Diode Galvo Module also provides the required foundation for the Laser Swap system used by the included 60W MOPA laser.
60W MOPA Laser for Professional Metal Engraving
The main advantage of this X1 configuration is the included 60W MOPA laser source.
MOPA technology is designed for precise metal processing and provides advanced control over laser parameters. This allows different markings, textures and surface finishes to be created.
The 60W MOPA laser is suitable for applications such as:
Permanent marking of metal components
Engraving logos, text and serial numbers
Color marking on compatible metals
Deeper engraving and raised or recessed relief designs
Personalized metal promotional gifts
Technical identification codes and product markings
Decorative patterns and detailed metal engravings
According to xTool, the MOPA laser has a spot size of approximately 0.04 × 0.04 mm and supports processing speeds up to 6,000 mm/s.
This makes the MOPA configuration especially interesting for businesses that regularly personalize metal products or mark technical components.
Color Engraving on Metal
One of the most interesting applications of the 60W MOPA laser is color marking on compatible metals.
By adjusting laser parameters such as power, speed, pulse frequency and pulse duration, certain metal surfaces can develop different colors and shades.
This is particularly interesting for suitable stainless steel and titanium surfaces.
Typical applications include:
Colored logos on metal products
Decorative patterns on stainless steel
Personalized metal nameplates
Color accents on promotional gifts
Artistic metal engraving
Product markings where color is part of the design
Actual color results depend on the metal type, surface finish, laser settings and environmental conditions.
Not every metal supports the same colors. Results may also vary between material batches, so testing is recommended before starting repeat production.
Deep Engraving and 3D Metal Embossing
In addition to surface marking, the 60W MOPA laser supports deeper engraving and three-dimensional relief structures.
With relief engraving, material is removed in a controlled way to create different heights within the surface. This enables logos, decorative patterns and technical shapes with additional depth.
Applications include metal nameplates, premium promotional products, decorative components, product markings and technical parts.
According to xTool, the dedicated metal embossing area reaches up to 415 × 225 mm when using a suitable Dust Hood for Embossing. This is smaller than the standard surface engraving area.
Achievable engraving depth depends on the metal, design, laser settings and number of processing passes. Deeper engraving may require longer processing times.
Metal Cutting with the 60W MOPA Laser
In addition to marking and engraving, xTool also supports certain thin-metal cutting applications with the 60W MOPA laser.
This creates possibilities for small metal parts, thin sheet materials and detailed designs that cannot be directly cut with a standard CO2 laser.
It is important to distinguish between cutting wood and acrylic with the 55W CO2 laser and processing metal with the MOPA laser.
Metal cutting capabilities depend strongly on material type, thickness, surface finish and desired cutting quality. The MOPA laser is not a replacement for an industrial sheet-metal laser cutter.
For specific metal-cutting applications, the required results should be evaluated before choosing the machine.
Three Laser Technologies in One Workflow
Combining CO2, diode galvo and MOPA makes the xTool X1 particularly versatile.
For example, you can cut a wooden product with the CO2 laser, add fine engraving with the diode galvo and then use the MOPA source for metal marking or engraving on another product.
This allows different materials and processing methods to be handled within one laser system.
The laser sources are used for their respective processing stages and do not emit simultaneously.
Laser Swap supports one additional external laser source at a time.
This modular approach is particularly interesting for businesses offering a wide range of personalized products without wanting to purchase a separate machine for every new application.
Large Working Area with Hybrid Motion
The xTool X1 offers a standard surface processing area of 615 × 320 mm.
This provides space for individual products, larger designs and processing multiple items within one job.
Combining machine movement with galvo technology makes it possible to achieve high engraving speeds across a relatively large working area.
Specialized applications such as metal embossing may have different maximum processing dimensions.
This makes the X1 interesting for users requiring more workspace than many compact galvo laser systems provide.
Intelligent Camera System and Autofocus
The xTool X1 includes an integrated camera system that helps position materials and designs accurately.
The system combines:
8MP overview camera
12MP close-up camera
Ranging camera
LiDAR ranging
Autofocus
With xTool Studio, you can prepare designs, position materials and manage cutting or engraving jobs.
Accurate positioning is particularly important for small text, logos and technical markings.
For specialized MOPA engraving, the correct material settings, focus and test engravings remain essential.
X1 MOPA vs. X1 UV: What's the Difference?
Both the X1 MOPA and X1 UV feature the same 55W CO2 laser and 20W Diode Galvo Module.
