xTool xTool X1 60W MOPA Galvo Source – Laser Upgrade for Metal Engraving and Color Marking

xTool X1 60W MOPA Galvo Source – Advanced Metal Engraving and Color Marking
Upgrade your xTool X1 with the 60W MOPA Galvo Source and add advanced metal processing capabilities to your machine. Create permanent markings, detailed color engravings, deep metal engravings and three-dimensional relief structures on compatible metal surfaces.
With 60W of laser power and advanced control over pulse duration and repetition frequency, the MOPA laser provides greater flexibility than a conventional fiber laser.
The 60W MOPA Galvo Source is particularly suitable for engraving companies, production studios, technical workshops and creative businesses that want to personalize metal products or perform specialized metal processing.
Important: the xTool X1 60W MOPA Galvo Source requires the 20W Diode Galvo Module to be installed in your xTool X1. This module is essential for Laser Swap and is not included with the MOPA Galvo Source.
If you own an X1 Single CO2 without the diode galvo module, you must purchase and install that module first.
What Can You Do with the 60W MOPA Laser?
The xTool X1 60W MOPA Galvo Source is designed for advanced processing of compatible metals.
Typical applications include:
Color engraving on stainless steel
Permanent logos and text on metal products
Deep engraving and three-dimensional relief structures
Serial numbers, QR codes and identification markings
Marking anodized aluminum
Personalized metal promotional products
Decorative metal patterns and textures
Small metal components and certain thin-metal cutting applications
Combined with the xTool X1 galvo system, MOPA technology enables precise engraving at maximum galvo processing speeds up to 6,000 mm/s.
Actual processing results depend on the metal, surface finish, laser settings and required engraving depth.
Color Engraving on Stainless Steel
One of the most distinctive features of the 60W MOPA Galvo Source is its ability to create color markings on compatible stainless steel.
By carefully controlling the laser energy, oxide layers with different properties can form on the metal surface.
Depending on the material and settings, colors such as blue, gold, purple and green may be achieved.
Applications include:
Colored company logos on stainless steel
Personalized metal nameplates
Decorative patterns and illustrations
Premium promotional products
Artistic metal engravings
Products where color is part of the design
The colors result from the laser's interaction with the metal surface. No ink is applied.
Not all metals or surface finishes support the same colors. Testing the actual material is essential when consistent results are required.
Adjustable Pulse Duration for Greater Control
MOPA stands for Master Oscillator Power Amplifier. This technology allows laser parameters such as pulse duration and repetition frequency to be adjusted over a wide range.
The xTool X1 60W MOPA Galvo Source supports pulse durations from 2 to 500 nanoseconds and repetition frequencies from 1 to 4,000 kHz.
These settings provide greater control over how laser energy interacts with metal surfaces.
This is especially useful for:
Color marking on stainless steel
High-contrast surface markings
Fine, detailed engraving
Deep metal engraving
Three-dimensional relief structures
Processing where reduced thermal impact is important
Shorter pulses can help limit unwanted heat transfer to surrounding areas.
Compared with a conventional fiber laser with more limited pulse adjustment, MOPA offers greater flexibility for specialized metal applications.
Deep Metal Engraving and 3D Relief
The 60W MOPA Galvo Source is suitable for deeper metal engraving and three-dimensional relief structures.
During deep engraving, material is removed in a controlled way. Multiple passes can create different depths within a design.
This enables recessed logos, detailed patterns, decorative textures and technical markings.
Applications include:
Metal nameplates and badges
Tools and technical components
Decorative metal products
Personalized promotional gifts
Relief logos and three-dimensional patterns
Prototypes and small production runs
The separately sold 60W MOPA Galvo Source includes an Exhaust Assembly for Embossing, designed to support extraction during relief engraving.
According to xTool, the maximum embossing area is 610 × 305 mm without the exhaust assembly and 395 × 205 mm with it installed.
Achievable depth and processing time depend on the metal, laser parameters and number of passes.
Permanent Metal Marking and Product Identification
The 60W MOPA Galvo Source is also suitable for permanently marking metal components.
Typical applications include serial numbers, identification codes, QR codes, product information and company logos.
This makes it useful for businesses personalizing metal products or identifying technical components.
Examples include:
Product identification on stainless steel
Serial numbers on metal tools
QR codes on aluminum nameplates
Company logos on metal products
Technical component marking
Personalized metal gifts
On compatible black anodized aluminum, the laser can selectively remove the dark anodized layer to reveal the silver-colored base material.
Final marking color and contrast depend on the material and surface finish.
Thin-Metal Cutting with the MOPA Laser
In addition to engraving and marking, the 60W MOPA Galvo Source supports certain thin-metal cutting applications.
This creates possibilities for small metal components and detailed shapes.
For metal cutting, xTool specifies the included Narrow-Aperture Lens Guard.
Achievable cutting thickness and quality depend on the material, laser settings and intended application.
The 60W MOPA laser does not replace an industrial sheet-metal laser cutter. Testing and assessing the intended application before production are recommended.
Required: xTool X1 20W Diode Galvo Module
The xTool X1 60W MOPA Galvo Source is an additional laser source and cannot function independently.
Your xTool X1 must already have the 20W Diode Galvo Module installed before you can use the 60W MOPA Galvo Source.
The system works as follows:
The xTool X1 comes with a standard 55W CO2 laser.
The 20W Diode Galvo Module adds the required galvo system.
The 60W MOPA Galvo Source is mounted externally on the rear of the X1.
Laser Swap routes the MOPA beam through the optical system of the installed diode galvo module.
The 20W Diode Galvo Module is not included with the 60W MOPA Galvo Source.
Which X1 Configuration Do You Have?
| Current machine | Can the 60W MOPA Galvo Source be used directly? |
