xTool xTool X1 5W UV Galvo Source – UV Laser for Glass, Crystal and 3D Internal Engraving

xTool X1 5W UV Galvo Source – Precision Engraving and 3D Internal Engraving in Glass and Crystal
Upgrade your xTool X1 with the 5W UV Galvo Source and add specialized ultraviolet laser technology to your machine. This 5W UV laser enables ultra-fine engraving on compatible materials such as glass, crystal, ceramics and various plastics.
One of its most distinctive capabilities is 3D internal engraving inside suitable transparent crystal. This allows images, logos, text and three-dimensional designs to be created within the material without directly engraving its outer surface.
With a wavelength of 355 nm and an exceptionally small laser spot, the UV source is also useful for precision marking of heat-sensitive materials.
Important: the xTool X1 5W UV Galvo Source requires the 20W Diode Galvo Module to be installed in your xTool X1. This module is essential for Laser Swap and is not included with the UV Galvo Source.
If you own an X1 Single CO2 without the diode galvo module, you must purchase and install that module first.
What Can You Do with the 5W UV Galvo Source?
The xTool X1 5W UV Galvo Source supports a range of specialized engraving applications.
Examples include:
Fine surface engraving on compatible glass and crystal
2D and 3D internal engraving in suitable optical crystal
Personalized crystal awards and trophies
Detailed logos and text on ceramics
Fine marking of engineering plastics
Product identification and small codes on compatible components
Personalized glass products and promotional gifts
Decorative designs on transparent and light-colored materials
Actual engraving results depend on material composition, surface finish and laser settings.
The 5W UV laser is primarily designed for fine marking and specialized engraving. Other laser technologies are generally more suitable for cutting thick materials or deep metal engraving.
UV Laser Technology with Minimal Thermal Impact
The 5W UV Galvo Source uses ultraviolet light with a wavelength of 355 nm.
UV laser energy interacts differently with materials compared with many conventional CO2 and infrared lasers.
This enables very fine material processing with relatively little heat spreading into the surrounding surface.
The process is often described as cold processing.
For certain heat-sensitive materials, this can reduce the risk of discoloration, deformation or other heat-related damage.
This makes UV technology particularly interesting for glass, ceramics, transparent acrylic and certain engineering plastics.
Actual results vary between materials. Cold processing does not mean that no heat is generated or that every material can be processed without risk.
3D Internal Engraving in Glass and Crystal
One of the most impressive applications of the xTool X1 5W UV Galvo Source is internal engraving inside transparent crystal.
During internal engraving, the laser focuses on specific points within the material. These points create tiny internal changes that form an image or three-dimensional structure.
This allows logos, text and decorative designs to be created inside crystal objects while leaving the outer surface intact.
Typical applications include:
Crystal awards and corporate trophies
Personalized promotional gifts
Commemorative objects and souvenirs
Decorative crystal ornaments
Branded crystal products
Small 3D images and personalized designs
Which Glass Is Suitable for Internal Engraving?
Not every type of glass supports internal engraving.
For reliable results, xTool recommends K9 optical crystal glass. Its optical properties make it suitable for accurately focusing the laser inside the material.
Ordinary window glass, drinking glasses and other transparent materials do not automatically produce the same results.
Dimensions, clarity, material quality and positioning also affect the outcome.
Internal engraving has separate processing areas and material height limitations compared with conventional surface engraving.
Ultra-Fine Surface Engraving on Glass and Ceramics
In addition to internal engraving, the 5W UV laser supports detailed surface engraving.
During surface engraving, the design is applied directly to the outer surface of the material.
Typical applications include:
Fine logos on compatible glass products
Personalized decorative glassware
Small text and symbols
Decorative patterns on ceramics
Detailed engraving on transparent materials
Product marking on compatible components
According to xTool, the 5W UV laser has a spot size of approximately 0.017 × 0.017 mm.
This very small spot enables fine details and precise markings.
The actual level of detail depends on material properties, focusing, positioning accuracy and processing settings.
Precision Marking on Plastics
Glass and crystal are not the only materials suitable for UV laser processing.
Certain plastics can also be marked precisely using ultraviolet laser technology.
This is especially useful for materials that are difficult to engrave with conventional diode, CO2 or infrared lasers, or where thermal impact should be minimized.
Examples include:
Identification codes on plastic components
Technical product marking
Logos on compatible plastic housings
Fine text and symbols
Detailed engraving on suitable light-colored plastics
Not every plastic is suitable or safe for laser processing. Always verify the material composition and use only compatible, laser-safe materials.
Required: xTool X1 20W Diode Galvo Module
The xTool X1 5W UV Galvo Source is an additional laser source and cannot operate independently.
Your xTool X1 must already have the 20W Diode Galvo Module installed before you can use the 5W UV Galvo Source.
The system works as follows:
The xTool X1 comes with a standard 55W CO2 laser.
The 20W Diode Galvo Module provides the galvo technology and optical path required for Laser Swap.
The 5W UV Galvo Source is mounted externally on the rear of the X1.
The UV laser uses the optical system of the installed diode galvo module.
Which X1 Configuration Do You Have?
| Current machine | Can the 5W UV Galvo Source be used directly? |
|---|---|
| X1 Single CO2 | No, install the 20W Diode Galvo Module first |
| X1 CO2 + Diode Galvo | Yes |
| X1 Fiber configuration | Yes, after swapping and calibrating the external laser source |
| X1 MOPA configuration | Yes, after swapping and calibrating the external laser source |

| 30W Fiber | Permanent metal marking and relief engraving |
| 60W MOPA | Advanced metal engraving and color marking |
The external laser source connects to the rear of the machine.
Laser Swap supports one external laser source at a time.
This modular design lets you choose the appropriate laser technology for different materials without needing a completely separate machine for every process.
UV vs. Fiber vs. MOPA: What's the Difference?
The three optional laser sources are designed for different applications.
The 5W UV Galvo Source focuses on fine engraving of compatible glass, crystal, ceramics and certain plastics. Internal engraving inside suitable crystal is one of its most distinctive capabilities.
The 30W Fiber Galvo Source is designed for permanent marking and engraving of compatible metals, including stainless steel and aluminum.
