The xTool M2 40W Basic is a versatile, enclosed diode laser cutter for cutting and engraving wood, leather, dark acrylic and other compatible materials. Its 40W laser provides greater cutting capacity than the M2 10W and 20W configurations.

The M2 combines a compact design with dual-camera positioning, autofocus and integrated air assist. This makes it suitable for creative businesses, makers, schools and small workshops that regularly cut materials and personalize products.

One of the M2's key advantages is its modular design. You can later switch to the optional CMYK Inkjet Module for full-color printing or the 3W infrared module for marking compatible metals and plastics.

40W Diode Laser for Powerful Cutting

The xTool M2 40W features a powerful blue diode laser operating at approximately 455 nm.

Compatible materials include:

• Wood, plywood and MDF

• Leather and cork

• Paper and cardboard

• Bamboo

• Dark, opaque acrylic

• Suitable anodized or coated surfaces

According to xTool, the 40W configuration can cut up to 15 mm basswood plywood and 11 mm black acrylic under suitable conditions.

Actual cutting performance depends on the material, settings and number of passes.

Please note: a blue diode laser is not suitable for directly cutting transparent acrylic. A CO2 laser is a better choice for clear acrylic.

Greater Cutting Power Than the M2 10W and 20W

The xTool M2 is available with different diode laser modules.

The 40W configuration is particularly useful when frequently processing thicker wooden materials.

Dual Cameras for Accurate Positioning

The xTool M2 features two cameras for preparing and positioning designs.

The overview camera helps you view the working area and place designs on your material. The close-up camera helps align smaller details more accurately.

This is useful for personalized products, text, logos and processing multiple items within one job.

Automatic distance measurement and focusing further simplify job preparation.

Integrated Air Assist and Enclosed Design

The M2 includes a built-in air pump that directs airflow towards the processing area.

This integrated air assist helps move smoke and cutting residue away from the laser beam, without requiring a separate external air assist system.

The enclosed machine also features safety interlocks. According to xTool, the M2 is classified as a Class 1 laser product under normal operating conditions with its safety features intact.

Proper fume extraction, ventilation, supervision and safe material selection remain important.

Expandable with Full-Color Printing

The xTool M2 is more than a laser cutter.

Its interchangeable processing modules allow you to add the optional M2 CMYK Inkjet Module for full-color printing on compatible materials.

You can then change to the laser module to cut the printed shapes.

This creates possibilities for personalized cards, gift packaging, printed wooden products, PVC-free sticker materials, labels and creative decorations.

Optional 3W Infrared Laser Module

The M2 also supports an optional 3W infrared laser module.

This module is designed for marking certain metals and plastics, including suitable stainless steel, aluminum and jewelry materials.

The infrared module is not included in this configuration.

Modules designed for other xTool machines are not automatically compatible with the M2. Use modules specifically developed for the xTool M2.
